This tri-fold, fold down invitation was created for my senior show Gallery Exhibit featuring the work of my classmates and I. Typography was used to create a visually appealing graphic, reminssent of chalkboard text.
Taking a whimsical spin on a classic movie, vintage botanicals and hand rendered illustration methods were combined on the theatrical rendition on the 1986 film, Little Shop of Horrors. The plot features a nerdy florist who raises a vicious, human-blood feeding plant that grows with every person it consumes. The theme was centralized in a curious fashion, inspired by the initial innocence of a plant at first glance, then suddenly realizing an unusual attribute upon a closer look. For instance, the illustrated tongue featured in the main poster has left all but Seymour, the nerdy florists', glasses behind. The other two plants feature bones and mouths upon deeper speculation. Floral and design elements were inspired by classic botanical books and enhanced with original illustrations to add elements of surprise to otherwise innocent aspects of nature.
